What is DoorDing?
DoorDing is a smart intercom and access platform built around the DoorDing Touch — an 8-inch weatherproof touchscreen panel for your entrance. Visitors press the bell and connect via two-way video call, while residents manage access through the mobile app, Apple Watch, or NFC entrance tags.
Do visitors need to download an app?
No. With DoorDing Touch, visitors simply press the bell on the touchscreen panel to start a video call. With DoorDing Sign, they scan a QR code that opens directly in their browser. Either way, no app download is needed on the visitor's end.
What is the difference between DoorDing Touch and DoorDing Sign?
DoorDing Touch is our flagship product — an 8-inch IP65-rated touchscreen intercom panel with a resident directory, two-way HD video calling, and NFC tag support. It is the recommended choice for homes, apartments, and businesses. DoorDing Sign is a simpler, entry-level alternative: a compact QR code nameplate ideal for quick setup where a full intercom panel is not needed.
How do digital keys work?
DoorDing supports multiple key types: swipe keys (open with a gesture on your phone), SMS keys (receive a code via text), tap keys (NFC-based), and PIN codes. You can create, share, and revoke keys instantly from the app.
Is installation difficult?
DoorDing Sign requires no wiring — mount it with adhesive or screws in under 2 minutes, connect to WiFi, and you are ready. DoorDing Touch requires a standard power connection and connects via WiFi or 5G/LTE, typically installed by a certified partner.
Can I control an elevator with DoorDing?
Yes. DoorDing integrates with elevator control systems so that visitors can be automatically directed to the correct floor. This feature is available with DoorDing Touch installations in apartment buildings.
Is my data secure?
Absolutely. DoorDing uses end-to-end encryption for all video calls. All data is stored in EU data centers and we are fully GDPR compliant. Access logs are encrypted and only accessible to authorized administrators.
What happens if my internet goes down?
Digital keys (PIN codes, tap keys) work locally and do not require an internet connection. Video calling requires an internet connection via WiFi or 5G/LTE, but offline access methods ensure you are never locked out.
Can multiple people receive door calls?
Yes. You can configure multiple recipients for door calls. For houses, all family members can receive notifications. For apartments, calls are routed to the specific resident the visitor selects.
